Overview

Objective

What you will learn

  • Navigate the SolidWorks interface and core toolkits with confidence, such as sketching tools, constraints, and dimensions to drive parametric models
  • Build 3D parts using essential features (extrude, revolve, cut, fillet, shell, pattern) and produce professional 2D drawings with views, dimensions, and annotations
  • Design with intent so models remain clean, organized, and easy to edit
  • Complete a cohesive project (a playground modeled as parts and sub-assemblies, finished with a blueprint set)
  • Master advanced SolidWorks features, including sheet metal, weldments, and boundary/loft modeling
  • Create and animate assemblies with advanced mates, configurations, and exploded views to clearly communicate how parts fit and move together
  • Design professional-grade blueprints and renderings, with custom templates, tolerances and visualizations

How you will benefit

  • Gain practical, industry-aligned 3D modeling skills by completing real projects, from individual parts to full assemblies and blueprint packages
  • Build confidence using SolidWorks' core and advanced toolsets while developing clean, editable parametric models suitable for professional engineering workflows
  • Strengthen visual and technical communication skills through exploded views, rendered presentations, and manufacturing-ready 2D drawings
  • Develop a portfolio of detailed multi-part designs, such as playground structures and an espresso machine, that demonstrates readiness for academic, hobbyist, or entry-level engineering roles
