This course has no prerequisites other than a basic knowledge of how to use a computer and the internet.
This course will prepare you to sit for the CAPM exam. To qualify for the exam, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree or the global equivalent)
- 23 hours of project management education completed by the time you sit for the exam. (This course meets the education requirement.)
This course will also prepare you for the PMP Certification Exam. To take the PMP Certification exam you will need to meet one of the following sets of requirements to take the exam:
- A four-year degree
- 36 months of leading projects
- 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM® Certification
— OR —
- A high school diploma or an associate degree (or global equivalent)
- 60 months of leading projects
- 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM® Certification
Note: The requirements are only for taking the exam but not required to complete this online training. You can complete this training and begin working as a project manager to gain experience in this field before taking the certification exams.

Are there any state/national exams your students will be prepared to take once they successfully complete the program?
Students may wish to sit for the CAPM® and PMP® certification exams. Students will need to arrange and pay for the tests independently from this program.
I'm new to project management, is this program the right fit for me?
Yes. You will find that this program starts from the ground up laying a solid foundation of project management terminology and concepts. Then, after you gain a foundation, you will move on to mastering the concepts with a level of expertise that you can bring into the industry. You can even qualify to take national certifying exams.
I have Microsoft Project 2010 (2013, etc.). Can I use that instead of 2016?
No. This is a hands-on course that calls out specific keystroke commands. Each new edition includes or excludes some functions, features and menu options. Additional compatibility challenges will exist with using the provided practice files for the hands-on exercises.
I have Microsoft Project 2016 Standard. Can I use that?
Yes. Although this program will also cover some features / functions that are only available in the Professional edition, you will be provided with references to those functions. The main difference is that you won't be able to do the hands-on exercises associated with those functions.
