Areas of concentration also include determining the relationship of basic statistics to Six Sigma, examining the Six Sigma business case, listening to the voice of the customer (VOC), seeing how quality function deployment (QFD) can improve new product development, and discovering the value of benchmarking. As a Six Sigma Green Belt, you'll be right in the middle of many process improvement projects as you apply brainstorming, cause and effect diagrams, checksheets, Pareto charts, and critical to quality help define problems, and opportunities. This unique course design provides on-the-job readiness to analyze quality problems and be involved in continuous improvement projects in the real world. You will be positioned to add value to a wide variety of organizations as a project manager and team member, including manufacturing companies, service operations, and the government sector.

ed2go will provide the required textbooks for this program:
- The Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Handbook
- An Introduction to Six Sigma and Process Improvement
-
The certified Six Sigma Green Belt Handbook
Prior to taking this course, you must be knowledgeable in basic Algebra and Statistics.
Employment:
To be successful in this course, we strongly recommend completing your Black Belt project at your current place of employment. Black Belt-level process improvement projects require significant real-time data, which is easier to obtain when you are presently employed. Projects must also be based on an actual business and are subject to approval by a Master Black Belt. Examples include:
- Manufacturing Floor – Reduced manufacturing product defects
- Human Resources Department – Reduced recruitment cycle time
- Accounting Department - Reduced accounts payable invoice processing costs
If you are currently unemployed, we recommend taking a Green Belt level certification course.
To obtain a Black Belt certification, an applicant will need to show proof that they have completed two Black Belt level projects. These projects are not needed to successfully complete this course, but an applicant will need to show proof of projects in order to apply for the certification exam.
