The Home Inspection Certificate course teaches the principal components of home inspection and covers all major elements of a house. You will learn from detailed lessons that focus on residential construction, including basic building design and common construction materials.
Each lesson explores an aspect of home inspection, including standards of practice, common defects, defects recognition, inspection guidelines, and reporting methodologies. You will also use internal appendices containing extensive glossaries, reference articles, common defect lists, inspection lists, and additional reference articles on special topics of interest.
Approximately 35 states have some form of home inspector certification or licensure, and 10 of regulatory states will accept online courses as part of the certification or licensure process. This course has been approved by various organizations and governmental entities as an initial educational requirement for membership, certification, or licensure. It is also one component of the steps required to obtain a NIBI Certified Inspector credential.
