Requirements

Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisites to take this course. However, there are eligibility requirements to complete the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist certification.

Certification Requirements:

  • The academic eligibility requirement to take the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) certification exam is a bachelor's degree or higher with a major in exercise science, or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support Provider or CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification

State Requirements:

This program does not meet the educational requirements to apply for professional licensure or certification in the states of LA. Louisiana does not offer a state licensure exam. Instead, the state accepts the ACSM certification, a national credential, for licensure. Students must also have at least a master’s degree in exercise science. (Note: You need at least a bachelor’s degree to sit for the ACSM exam.)

Each state’s licensure or certification authority is responsible for establishing the requirements for professional licensure or certification in its state. Completing this program does not guarantee professional licensure or certification. Eligibility may also depend on factors like work experience, professional examinations, passing a background check, and other criteria. Students are encouraged to contact the appropriate state licensing authority to confirm the requirements for licensure or a certificate in the state where they live, work, or intend to live or work.
